Water Supply & Water systemsDeveloping water supply and managing water systems in the 21st century is challenging. We assist clients with planning, regulatory approvals and rights to use water. We help individuals, businesses, small water systems, and municipal governments address key issues and identify a path to approval, including identifying creative solutions.
Water RightsIncreasing competition for water has resulted in greater regulatory hurdles. We help individuals, businesses and utilities secure rights to use water. We pride ourselves on careful analysis of existing water rights, and we work closely with our clients to navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape and identify cost-effective solutions.
Geothermal resources and renewable energyWe have developed laws, regulations and institutional recommendations for geothermal programs in the US and East Africa. We are currently conducting capacity-building workshops for regulators. Geothermal power generation is essentially a zero-carbon source of both baseload and dispatchable power, with minimal environmental impact and a lower footprint on the land than other renewables. We are also working to implement innovative mineral extraction technologies that can benefit a geothermal project’s bottom line.
Innovative energy solutionsWe are experienced in the link between water and energy, and are currently working to implement microhydro, new low temperature geothermal technologies, and emerging water treatment technologies.

Wastewater
The regulation of wastewater depends on the size and source and whether wastewater will be discharged the environment or to utility infrastructure. Our experience includes permitting of wastewater discharges at small or large scale.
Reclaimed Water
Reclaimed water and industrial reuse involve treatment of nonpotable water to a standard that is acceptable for a specific use. We participated in development of reclaimed water standards, implementation of one of the earliest reclaimed water programs in the United States, and design of innovative utility programs.
